Description

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, located in Stratford, Hackney Wick, Leyton, and Bow in east London, is a sporting complex and public park built for the 2012 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. Adjacent to the Stratford City development, it features the London Stadium, the Olympic swimming pool, the athletes' Olympic Village, and several other Olympic venues, including the London Olympics Media Centre. The park is also home to the ArcelorMittal Orbit, an observation tower and Britain's largest piece of public art. Initially called The Olympic Park during the Games, it was renamed to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee. The park spans four east London boroughs: Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, and Waltham Forest, with major sections reopening in 2013 and 2014.
